Tips before you buy
- Mounting height
- Wall sconces are usually mounted around 1.5–1.8m from the floor, roughly at eye level.
- Bathroom vanity
- Side-mounted vanity lights give the most even light for your face. Check the IP rating for wet zones.
- Beside the bed
- Swing-arm or adjustable wall lights free up bedside tables and make great reading lights.

What IP rating do I need for a bathroom wall light?
Requirements depend on how close the light is to the shower or bath. IP44 is common for bathroom vanity lights; your electrician will confirm the right rating for the zone.
